• <H2> The purpose of this website is to promote and shareexperiences relating to the activities of flying, sailing, and aircraft construction. I learned to fly in ultralight aircraft back in 1995, in Tasmania Australia. With the help of an engineer friend, I went on to build and fly a highly modified Zenair Zodiac HD. This low wing, two seat aircraft was builtentirely from plans, constructed mainly of aluminium and fibreglass.While undertaking around 400 hours of flying in Tasmania and the southern states of mainland Australia, mostly with my wife/navigator/co-adventurer, we bought a yacht. This 25 foot^Top Hat, named "Wyndham", took us on many sailing adventures around Tasmania, photos and videos of which I will share on this website.After selling the Zodiac and the Top Hat, we bought aSwanson 28, "Moondance". This rugged fibreglass yacht suffered a major mechanical failure while Angie and I were bringing it across Bass Strait, and most of our subsequent ownership was taken up with replacing the engine and gearbox.Following the sale of Moondance, we bought a two seatfibreglass aircraft called a Jabiru LSA-55. This little plane completed numerous trips to the Furneaux group of islands and mainland Australia. After selling the Jabiru,we purchased a single seat aircraft called a Fisher Koala, to enable me to retain my ultralight tail wheel endorsement. This completed, the little Koala was recently sold to a buyer from Queensland, and we have commenced construction of a kit-built two seat aircraft called the SkyRanger Swift.As you may have gathered from this brief history, Angie and I are determined to squeeze some adventure and variety into our life together, while both working as nurses in Northern Tasmania. In subsequent entries on this website, I will elaborate on some of our flying and sailing experiences as well as the construction, comlpetion and flights of our latest project, the SkyRanger Swift.Jim
